TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Monday that army naval force is to be provided with a newly-built submarine late July or early August.
The submarine is built with advanced technology that can carry out underwater operations, he said.
Iran is one of the 10 countries able to build submarines, Vahidi said in the central Iranian city of Esfahan.
The submarine also holds advanced weapons and it could be used for military and non-military purposes in naval area, Iranian Defense Minister continued.
Submarines are protected from air strikes and it is a great advantage and they can also boost control of war games in high seas, he added.
There is no Islamic country that has built submarine so far and there are few countries making submarine in the Middle East and region.
